Anyone who considers to be a herbalist or an animist or loves to work with the medicine of the plants (or fungi), knows that oftentimes we aren't the ones who seek out the plant. Of course we go out to forage with the intention of finding a plant to work with it's medicine.
Yet most of the time, when our energy is in need of a medicine or it wants to co-create, the plant will call us. And I listen to the calling.
Rose is with me these days, in energy. Last year I experimented with foraging and drying the hips (fruits) for tea, yet this year I want to make an oil to use on my skin and heart space.
This post is not to share all the different benefits of the rose, it's more to share my experience with the beautiful energetic medicine that came through for me and maybe you'd love to read as guidance and support on your own journey.
As a woman, who has been raised in modern day society, I've spend a lot of years living from an - out of balance - inner masculine and feminine energy. Forcing myself to fit into a system and move along with a pace that was slowly depleting my inner feminine. After I had an - out of body - experience in the mountains of Northern Spain, I knew I wanted to love, nurture and give her all the time she needed to recover from this depletion and neglect she had been through and I did.
I still find it challenging from time to time to preserve my energy, yet I've learned along my path to notice when my energy is out of balance and when I have to rewind and take the time to withdraw myself from the world and nurture my sensual nature.
The sensual, passionate and gentle loving features of the rose remind me of the power of my own heart and sensuality. The power of being IN LOVE. Being in a state of love = embodying love with an open heart space, radiating that energy out into the field.
Yet we can not only see and sense the beauty and love of the rose without noticing it's sharp and stingy thorns.
For me, it's a beautiful metaphor along my path.
As I am walking it here on Earth, with an open heart space, I will also need to be able to set healthy boundaries when needed and it's a dance.
(Self)love is honoring your own space.
Through loving yourself you love others, cause you learn them how to treat you and respect your space and energy.
I choose (self)love over and over again and sometimes that means honoring myself and setting boundaries in order to preserve and protect my energy.
Through our history, the feminine has been indoctrinated to be 'in service' and be nice all the time, for the sake of love and devotion and to please others. While others often took advantage of that warmth and loving nature.
It's a balance, a dance and a dynamic between us humans, both in connecting and sharing our love and energy with others.
The Rose, for me, is a symbol of my devotion to loving and nurturing my self and from that space loving others in a healthy and balanced way.
As I will forage some Rose hips soon and make an oil from them to use on my skin and heart space, maybe I'll dedicate a different post to that along with the benefits.
Thank you for reading !
With Love,
Sharon,
